I've seen some suggestions that a lanyard is a good idea just in case the mount comes loose.
Thats also a very good idea Dave.

I wet the suction cup , put it on top of a Helmet last night , slid it around a bit and couldn't pull it off w, a good tug w, one hand.

Left it on and just tried pulling it off here at midnight my time and I still couldn't pull it off .?

He Man

did you try putting a blow dryer on it to simulate the sun? you could possibly warm the water enough to get it to sudden break loose

"wet" isn't required to get a good stick w/ the suction cup, just a clean surface.

that said, i'm not sure i'd use the 'cup on a curved helmet surface.

I almost ran over a camera that popped off a helmet with the suction attachment during a race.  Camera survived and the video was really cool, but who wants to look for their camera every time it pops off?  I may have the link to the video somewhere....

I think this is the video...

However, I can't view the link while at work.

Artful

I used the flat mounting puck that came with my friends kit to mount the GoPro on the front of the bike under the headlights. Not sure if there is room with the standard round bucket. Just used the VHB tape to mount it to the plate that guides the front brake lines under the triple.

Whatever you do, zip-tie the housing to the bike. VHB tape is some serious ish, but anything can happen. Shot some great video:

a Gopro lens does not rotate (AFAIK), so if you mount the camera in any position other than straight up, your images will be tilted. In Movie maker you can rotate your down loaded images but only 1/4 turns so most Gopro users mount the camera on the vertical or use the angle attachment..... and most do not trust the suction cup attachment on anything less than a really flat surface. playing with camera angles  is fun so mount it anywhere you think the view would be cool.

I purchased a Drift camera just so I could rotate the lens.

Thanks Joel, Good to know.

He Man I didn't try drying it , but I did try pulling on it again about 5pm Monday afternoon and it pulled loose finally.

I noticed there was a little moisture left so I reset it and tried to pull it off and it is stuck tight.

The first bike after the camera stops spinning was me... lol... a corner worker ran out and grabbed it as soon as our group passed it... the guy that almost biffed it... came wide out of three and couldn't cut T4 without chopping through all of our lines... he was trying not t-bone us... which he made it clean... it was a fun race.

This Friday on a group ride to Deals Gap they realized that not all camera mounts are wheelie compatible.  Just make sure your mount is secure and a tether might not be a bad idea.

Which go pro is the hot ticket these days?

Wide angle HD?

Aren't there a bunch of different version go pros?

The wide angle HD is the way the go assuming you have a relatively new computer to be able to play it back. I have the older one in standard def and it doesnt even come close. I've had quite a few of these different cams and the gopro hd wide is the best I've owned so far. I still want to get a contourHD for getting helmet cam shots though.
