Sorry for the double post, but how long after putting down the deposit did it take to get a production slot?

A couple of weeks or so. I got the email from them about a slot and called them up and talked to the man himself about what I wanted. So far they've been a pleasure to deal with.

From what I've read "the man" is pretty closely involved with this and wants the new owners to be successful.  Here's wishing you good support the whole way through.

Admit it, it was the ride on my bike that made you pull the trigger, right?  You don't have to admit it, we all know.  :P

Well, it was more like the talk at the Blue Moon that convinced me.

Although it was a cool ride on your bike. ;)

I had the itch to do some wrenching today.

Got the controls off the handle bars:

No handle bars or front wheel:

No rear fender: (That sucker was heavy.)

Look! It's a carburetor:

The airbox is gone:

No exhaust:

Compression release solenoid is gone:

Hopefully it will go back together as easily as it came apart.  [roll]

So are you doing full cosmetics on this?  Paint for the frame and body parts, clean, paint, and buff the engine?  How much of the original bike do you keep?

This is about it for the tear down. Now I'm waiting for the kit to arrive.

I decided to take the engine out of the frame. It seemed the easiest way to clean up the frame and swing arm. There's quite a bit of road gunk, and what looks like dried clay or a thin wash of cement on the lower frame and swing arm. It also made it alot easier to make the needed cuts on the swing arm and frame and to clean those up. I'm probably going to get the frame painted a different color than black.
