First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

there are a few things about this bike that are peculiar to me for the kind of money he is asking...a repainted tank with no logo's?...me thinks wreck, repair, repaint....changed the bars with no bar-ends, shredded the left hand grip, and put some form of aftermarket mirrors on it and a non matching black front fender...all tell tale's of a wreck repair?..maybe...but definitely no where near for what he is asking...and I think those might be the origional tires...

maybe for $3300?!?!?

Look closely at the clutch lever. The 2nd pic might be the wrong angle, but the clutch lever appears to not all be there... maybe.

Also, look closely at the exhaust/muffler on the right side. I see some rash and, maybe, a dent. If so, have the owner explain that.

Duh, you already caught that.

Jeebus, looks like a bike I might own...

For what it's worth, Monsters tend to crash pretty well. Guess how I know ;) So I wouldn't be too worried about the reliability of the bike. However I would EXPECT the person to clearly state that a bike has been down.

You can see the VIN on a sticker in one of the pics, you could do an online check to see if it was something serious, and/or ask the seller. Also ask him if the bike has a clean title, or the price goes down  [thumbsdown]

Is that 4900 retail? 'Cause that's the price you get from a dealer for a mint bike, not for this.

THEN DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON ANYTHING ELSE. That's the best bit of advice I can give you. [thumbsup]

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

it's just logic.  it's the only bike he has (that he's told us about) and therefore, it's the only bike seat that he's put his ass on.

I farted many times on that bike yessirree  [Dolph]

I almost backed out on selling it. When I went to take it for a goodbye flog through Rock Creek Park, it seemed like it pulled the hardest and smoothest it ever had, handled the flickiest, and shined the glossiest. And it turned everyone's heads. Them damn little wet clutch S2Rs are sweetheart bikes. I never understood why they never got any more respect than they did.

When the guy rode away I could hear that bike all the way from Chevy Chase to the 495 offramp. 'Twas a loud one!

i think it was the forks and the discount brakes.  if they had put full sized brakes on the front and adjustable forks, it would have gotten plenty more respect.  My bike has those upgrades now and no one has noticed the wet clutch.

the only thing i would change now is to a straight clutch and not the aptc.

part of it tho is the marketing ducati has done -- people think a dry clutch is "true" ducati and anything else is not, forgetting all of the race bikes <1980 or so had wet clutchs.
