It seems the other motors - 620 / 796/800 900 and on , but why drop the 750cc motor ? Maybe they updated the motor and just changed the cc ? The 750cc has ben around fo 50 years .

new motors always bump to a higher displacement (probably for marketing reasons) example- 600->620->695->696

Math
600 became the 620 750 became the 800 (almost twice the bump from 600 to 620) 900 became the 1000 (twice the bump from 750 to 800)
Gotta heed the math.
Really I have no clue... but the theory amused me.

Obviously the 'Really have no clue' part is it most important part of my statement...

I really like my carbed 750, it has a very nice, broad power curve. It is down on top end power, even to SV650s. I've seen top-gear on the throttle stops trying to keep up with other bikes in the sweepers, but I usually hang right with them in the tight stuff.

So give it a few more iterations and the 750 will be back. ![laughingdp](http://ducatimonsterforum.org/Smileys/classic/laughdmf.gif)

I never thought I would see someone wax poetic about the M750 engine. On the Paso, it was just enough. Upgrade your 600 and you feel like you've been gifted an extra inch. But the M750 is a bit mild. Maybe you can up the valves and cams and get more, but.. ![Huh?](http://ducatimonsterforum.org/Smileys/classic/huh.gif)

I'd like to see a 600+ 4v engine. just for kicks.. but truly, they'd need to come up with a smaller crankcase for it. and i don't know how that can be done using the 90 deg L layout..

wonder what configurations the new motor can do ? or better yet, the 800cc V4 turned into a true 600cc for supersport.

Despite having 2-3x the $ into it that could be used to buy a DS1000... 799 hi-comp kit 900 diameter valves 900i.e. Cams Dry-clutch 695 6-speed trans 749 charging system... & 40mm flat-slides Still going to be slow... :-/ (BTW, a BIG +1 to the above quote...)

i've always wondered why there isnt a 600cc v4. are there tech reasons behind it or is it just because there just isnt too much benefit in the v4 config for smaller engines to justify the extra work in making one?

2012 honda 600cc should be a v-4 motor and a new RC-51 style race bike might show up .
