The New VW Bobcat!

Best not to talk about emissions then! 😉

Unfortunately the diesel option has gone from high to ridiculous in price. With gas prices as they stand now, it's not really an option unless you're looking for a small displacement economy with big hp towing.

I just built the lowest price Ram 1500 with the Eco Diesel option. The lowest range was the SLT Regular Cab with the 8' bed, 4x2. That started at $32k. The diesel option added $4270 plus another $500 for the 8 speed to go with it. No frills, no options, $37,260. That seems a bit much just to have the diesel option...

Probably reflects the expected life of the engine.

But that's still too much.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Right, but what's really odd is that the diesel option is a different price for each trim level...

At this point I can buy a regular gas pickup that gets better gas mileage than my mini van.

Good point.
I got 20 mpg with my 6.4L Ram going from Albuquerque to Tucson.

I will say this, pickups are freaking expensive! Been eyeing an F150 Lariat. This year's model start in the high $30k. if you want a supercrew, you're already looking at $40K

They've been getting expensive. When I bought my 09 F150 it was deep in the $40's.

It pays to wait for a good deal on a used truck.
I bought mine right after Christmas and they were very motivated to move it.

Says it's an improvement over the 2.2 turbo diesel it replaces. Based on the article, I would say it's an almost completely different motor.

Having diesel at $2 really makes any diesel option tempting.
