 I love it!!!  [thumbsup]
Sad that I just bought my 696.
Hopefully for me, Ducati won't release an "S" version or naked "4" valver until 2010, I need to remodel my bathroom to get my wife off my back. Gonna be broke in 09'

Well I guess that means the end of the first gen.

1993-2008.

It was a good run.

Cool, got the tapered bar, sss, and the ten spokes! Sharp, I too wish that there was a clear shot of the sss though. I'm curious if they used a multi/SB style or the S*R style. Maybe a completely new unit? Dunno but I likey.  [thumbsup]

In the original post there's a link with a pic of the left side.  You can see that it's not an SBK swingarm, as the chain doesn't pass through it.  It looks like a Hyper/Multi swingarm, but the shock mounts in a very different location, as can be seen in the shot of the bike's right side.

Are you serious?  It's one of the smoothest, most linear engines I've ridden and puts out a ton of power for an air-cooled 2-valver.  What did you think was lacking from it?

+1.... Rode a Demo Hyper, I had a hard time not sliding off the back the first time I cracked the throttle open....One beast of a power plant.

Did anyone read the original post on ducatimonsterclub.it ?(http://www.ducatimonsterclub.it/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=101&topic=29344.0;topicseen)

There is talk about an "Exup" system 15 cm before the exhaust. Any comments?

Bit more info for you all....

From my contacts within Ducati UK and the factory, the 1100 is a dry clutch motor, the same as used in the Hypermotard. The talk of the Exup may well be as per I think the 1098 has to sort out exhaust harmonics etc. The 1100 will essentially have S4RS brakes, radial master cylinders etc. I have heard that the subframe is slightly revised to accomodate taller riders.

I also understand that there will be 2 versions, the base model and a uprated version with Ohlins front and rear, possibly uprated brakes and loads of carbon etc.

Oh, and if that's not enough to whet your appetite, rumour has it that a naked 1098 is on the drawing boards, dubbed the Hyperfighter.  It's supposedly not to be a watercooled Monster (that will be aircooled for the future), more a new model. The best bit I've heard though is that they're leaving the motor alone so will be the full fat 160ish bhp! Yee har!

Having ridden a 1098 recently, a naked version would be a hoot!

BTW, also rode a Desmosedici at the weekend, Jeeez, now that is an impressive bike, the term "missile" really doesn't do it justice, it's much faster!

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room.

There is nothing noble in being superior to some other man.  The true nobility is in being superior to your previous self. And in bacon.

It looks ok; however, there is just something alluring about the "old" monsters. I like the classic cafe racer look, the classic, round headlight, the full trellis frame, and etc. The new one looks like it is trying to hard to be modern. I'm sure the frame and the rest of the design is high tech., but it just looks half arsed. I love the trellis frame of the original monsters.

I will buy one.

I will NOT.

I find it to be an abomination to the Monster name.

Consider;

1. The original Monster is such a Timeless, Classy, Unique and Beautiful machine, While this bike looks like a cheap, mass produced in china wanna be knock off.

2. Ducati will most likely produce a Tuono-esque 1198 (yes, 1200cc) naked SBK with Upright bars very soon.

I agree.

That's why I bought a Hypermotard.

I think the Hyper is closer in spirit to the original Monster than the new "Monster" is.

I agree as well, but I went the other way.  I got a Sport 1000 instead.
