I've been in that position before with management not offering any support claiming 'no one is irreplaceable'.........so I left! And didn't the proverbial hit the fan, that department no longer exists with substantial revenue losses.

I'd like to say I told you so but they wouldn't care anyhoo!

as evident by me writing this rather than sorting though the stupid document in the window next to the browser and how I can implement what these people want a system to do

Up here. Dogs walked, fed, dishes walked, and one cup of coffee drunk!

I am still not training at work. Doing the admin side of the work is boring. I have huge chunks of time where I have nothing to do. I have been going through all the class materials and making sure they all have the same format and style. We don't have a style guide, so things are all over the place.

if i work from 6am - 7pm or later I figure I can screw off for two hours worth of the day here and there
plus tomorrow I intend on pushing until I can't keep my eyes open
two Fridays ago that meant 6am-11:45pm

both myself and my immediate boss have this all mapped out as to the various ways it can play out
all of them mean short term discomfort for me
all of them also mean long term good stuff for me no matter how I play it
this should be a good Xmas and this will all come to a head one way or the other by new year
no matter what I'm positioned well and by no small part due to his efforts

...to the point they can call you 6 months after you no longer there to ask you for something you know but have 'forgotten' . . .

On this subject, received a call from 'someone' where I worked till Feb '08 asking me if I remembered where we had ordered the mirrors for a few UTVs that were purchased, where had we purchased the brake rotors and pads for the armored vehicles and since I knew they were on speaker phone I said " I no longer work there, you need my services, it's $65.00/hr or I can send you a quotation for said parts, provided you give me the information needed to correctly quote it for you; I have no recollection of where were those parts purchase and have a nice day" . . . hung up!

Nothing better then having your immediate boss on you side, helps in many ways! It's upper management that are clueless in many cases.

The same company found out I was back in town and rang me to ask if I could come back in on contract and sort a few things out, I said OK as the pay was quite a bit more then when I left. Was there for a couple of months before the group manager called me into her office (first time meeting her) and asked what my qualifications were (I had worked there for 15 years, think they would know) I said none relevant to the position they asked me to do and she sacked me on the spot! the manager who rang me and asked for me to come back was disgusted and subsequently left shortly after! They rang me.......

yup . . . that's my house is park in front of . . behind the truck is the bike and you can barely see the front of the Suzuki Swift . .. it was taken last Wednesday when I received it . .. at about 1830h . ..
