are all electricians worthless & looney?

i have new electrical gremlins, basically same problem as last time, but in a different area of the house...

so home warranty company sends out a new electrician today, within 5 minutes of him entering my house he is telling me about his 20 year old son lance that has contracted an std... wth??

so electrician guy spends about 20 minutes here, tests 3 outlets & opens up one switch..tells me he cant find the problem, he's going to leave now, but he'll call me on monday to reschedule another time to come out next week, but it won't be Monday because he plans to get drunk watching the Superbowl & won't be getting out of bed on Monday... ARE YOU SERIOUS???

*sigh*

Maybe it's time you got a little cranky with this so-called home warranty company.

Sounds good Carlos!

Sorry about the electrical troubles Elyse!  My house is so old, it has a fuse panel.  I've learned to be a light duty electrician but not by choice!

Some times I don't believe in them. Does that mean they sometimes don't exist?

In your part of the world can anybody just put up a sign and call themselves an electrician?
Here it's a licensed trade, meaning you normally have to serve a 4 year term as an apprentice and pass a nationally accredited examination before you can call yourself an electrician. (plumbers here are much the same). If you want to put yourself out as a contractor (as opposed to working for a company) then you have even more training and exams to get through.
So we do tend to have a few less worthless and looney types here.
BTW I'll happily come over and fix your house if your home warranty company will cough up the airfare.

Evening.

Of course our Sparky's are all diagnostic genii.  Not that you can ever get one to turn up even if you do wave multiple $100 notes in the air.

And naturally its illegal to do domestic electrical work in Australia unless you're a Qualified Electrician "or similarly qualified person".

Three wires.  How hard can it be?  I'm similarly qualified  8).
