I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

I keep asking him if he has any left over 9mm ammo, :P

That much shooting makes for one long ass brass detail!! [bang] Clint Smith at Thunder Ranch/TX always made the students run brass detail at the end of every day on every range... I am sure he still does. ;D The pregnant dog was any pistol class. All his open square ranges were covered in crushed granite-type rock with the gravel being about half size dime pieces. Made picking up thousands of spent 9mm and .45acp cases zero fun when your ass is already dragging at the end of the day. He and the range officers would scan behind you like damn CSI investigators looking for any missed brass! [bang] Made me appreciate the shotgun classes even more!! [laugh]

Make that a Shop-Vac! ;D

Kopf,

What does happen to all that spent brass? And no, I'm not gonna ask for it! [thumbsup]

Is it recycled, reloaded or sold?

As far as I know, most of it is auctioned off in large lots.  Some buyers get it at a good enough price for recycling and some buy it for resale.  The availability of the auctions where the brass isn't demilled (crushed, partially melted, etc) seems to depend on the administration.  I know a couple of outfits that buy container size lots of brass - its usually mixed and dirty so it has to be sorted, cleaned, and processed before sale.  Military brass typically has a crimped in primer - after the case is deprimed, the material left from the crimp needs to be removed either by swaging or reaming, or it can interfere with seating the new primer.  Machinegun brass is usually pretty banged up, stretched and seriously expanded and requires some extra work to get it back to reloading shape.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

fastwin

Guess that's where all that "once used military" brass comes from.
