Off topic, I like your new avatar Steve!
Nothing to see but golden canola under a clear blue sky.  In other off topic news: I don't own a suit.

But we digress....

I have a leather suit.

Does  that count?

If you're using your body to determine the coefficient of friction of a race track then yes

Is it just me or does melting solder smell wonderful?

I'm probably leaking IQ points as we speak and don't even know it.

What did we lose?

Things are going but not well. After extensive diagnosis and troubleshooting my $2,800 ECU is going back to Holley because we think it's bad. Lots of time on the phone with them and they're the ones that suggested I send it back.

No matter what I do it will not acknowledge the existence of the map sensor, oil or fuel pressure sensors.

It has to have map to run.

In the meantime I'm working on small projects like looming all the wiring, getting the passenger seat installed and installing a latch on the glove box door that, hopefully, looks sort of period correct.

It sounds like if I'm lucky Holley will take a couple weeks to get the thing bench tested and either repaired or returned to me.

If it's a software problem then they should be able to just reflash it. If it's a hardware issue the thing is junk because it's fully potted. Essentially they add all the guts to the case and then fill it with resin.

So hopefully in the next month I get a working ECU and my antique registration back from the state of Pennsylvania.

If this thing gives me too much sass it's going on Ebay for $1 no reserve

We lost everything from 3/5-3/15.

That's too bad. Electrical issues suck!

Yeah who are we kidding.  I'll be buried in that thing someday.

Crack me up...

You've come too far to not dump the clutch and burn a set of tires off it.

It'll all work out.

I figure about 20 mins after it starts.  :-*

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Monsterlover

Which as of now is never  :D

Because the ECU is in a box on my desk

ECU has been signed for by someone at Dock #14 at Holley.  Wiring is all loomed.  Looks ok but were I to do it again I would keep wire runs a little more separated so they bundle a little nicer when looming.

Found some spots I missed painting on the underside of the truck so I touched those up yesterday.

Got a cool kit to fill radiators, or in my case expansion tanks.  It's got different fittings to mount to different radiators and a stopper to allow you to remove the funnel with liquid in it and not make a mess.  Worked really well and was definitely worth $20.

Some ground straps I made from 4 gage to connect the cab and engine to the frame.  Everything like this has the eye terminal impact crimped, back filled with solder and then covered in heat shrink.

I love the way the dash looks

My leaking brand new, never had oil in it until a week ago, transmission.  Can't have leaks.  I had to trim some sheet metal behind the trans (all covered by the tunnel so it'll never be seen) to allow the tail housing to slide off.  Did that and got both case halves super clean then used a liberal amount of rtv, which the factory did not do IMO.

Got to the shop the other day and thought it looked cool lurking in the dark so I had to grab a couple pics

Lastly, I found these low profile cable ties and had to get some (ok, I got 1000)  They really are pretty low profile and when you cut the tail following the angle of the head there is nothing sharp sticking up at all.  The only downside is they're pretty hard to install with one hand should you need to do that.

Coilovers are getting installed Monday so the final look of the truck will be complete.  After that I lose my spot with a lift and get moved to another area to do the finish install of the interior bits and pieces while waiting for Holley to do whatever they're going to do.
