Could just be talented photo work though. ;) I wonder what an oil change will involve. The exhaust looks too busy down there. Also, the asymmetrical exhaust cut outs on the fairings will likely make variety of exhaust designs challenging. I'm surprised at how nice and refined the speedo looks, albeit, a bit bland. I'll have to go see one in the dealer showroom, and see if it stirs my soul and/or loins. Then I can decide whether or not to buy it with the money I don't really have. Title: Re: 1199 is here! I already have trouble controlling the torque and power from a 1098. well, they have riding modes now so you can detune it if you dont need the extra power. but yeah... i'd def hit that. i wonder if they are going to ever base a sf on this chassis? could be interesting... would just look like a engine and two wheels. as stripped down a bike as possible. Title: Re: 1199 is here! I'm filing that under "careful what you wish for" until I see this (non)chassis idea work better in superbike that it has in MotoGP. Title: Re: 1199 is here! Official Launch Post by: thought on November 07, 2011, 11:03:44 AM I'm filing that under "careful what you wish for" until I see this (non)chassis idea work better in superbike that it has in MotoGP. i'd actually think in some ways it would work better for the sf concept because you generally wont push a sf as hard as you do a sbk. it would still have limitations at the track when you're at 11/10's but in the street? not so much i'd say. they would have a hell of a time hiding the wiring though. everything would prob have be pretty much routed under the airbox/tank. no where else to hide anything. Title: Re: 1199 is here! Official Launch Post by: hillbillypolack on November 07, 2011, 11:31:14 AM I wanted to hate it.
I can't. Love the tail section and surfaces on the upper areas. The only minor niggle I have is the front would look stronger with a horizontal surface under the twin headlights. The one on it looks like a hare lip. Video looked confident, maybe sped up 5% or so? Nice either way. Need to see it in person for a final take. Title: Re: 1199 is here! Official Launch Post by: muskrat on November 18, 2011, 07:06:17 AM rumor is that Ducati corporate will not be at the international motorcycle show. Is that so? I was told they'd try to get a Pannigale stateside to show and now this rumor surfaced????

Seems to me the Desmosedici is 10 lbs heavier, makes just nominally more power. So what do you think would be the trade-in or resale value for those bikes now that the Panigale has been announced for 1/3 of its original price? Title: Re: 1199 is here! I have to say that really the only thing that puts me off the look of the bike are the mirrors. No doubt more functional than past mirrors but they give it a touch of a Suzuki look. Blasphemy, I know. Journalists have been dissing the mirrors on the previous bikes for years as if they were some sort of major sin. Somehow I prefer form over function in this case. They let folks up onto the podium, so you could view it normally, but no other bikes up at that level. Compared to an 848: The tail is minimal, as there's no exhaust. Tank looks a good bit smaller. just relooking at it... the 1198 looks pretty strong comparably all the way through 8250 rpm. and still hangs up to 9500 rpm. it's all at the top end where the panigale would pull away. 1000 rpm higher upper limit as well it's gonna have to be ridden like the I-4 bikes and keep it up in the RPM range to make the power. then again, makes it more docile at the lower RPMs for street Title: Re: 1199 is here! Funny thing was that when the techs were putting it together, we were commenting that putting on the passenger pegs was just a crime. Official Launch Post by: MadDuck on June 15, 2012, 08:47:34 AM You would have thought that moving the can under the engine would have solved the burning of the butt issue. Big engine = big heat. Then the exhaust header has to go out and do a 180* bend right under the seat in order to route down to the cans. I'm told it puts out more heat to the rider than an 1198 even though it has a larger radiator. I've had my butt cooked several times on an 1198 so the Panigale must be something else. :o I've wrapped pipes on a 999 and that helps but there is still the issue of a huge vertical cylinder head radiating heat and there is no getting around that. The head was the bigger heat generator on the 999 and the 1098/1198. Title: Re: 1199 is here!
